Did you know that play is as essential to your wellbeing as sleep, movement and relationships?

Play supports brain health, creativity and wellbeing. For those who are autistic and neurodivergent, play can be a powerful pathway to joy, connection and self-regulation.

That's why Proof Positive is excited to introduce Permission to Play, a new wellbeing skill designed to support parents, educators, service providers and autistic individuals in recognizing play as essential for wellbeing.

Three Simple Ways to Promote Play:

  • Follow an interest: Let autistic interests lead, without redirecting or "upgrading" play.

  • Protect playtime: Schedule time for play just as you would sleep or movement.

  • Rethink productivity: Notice where play supports regulation rather than interrupts it.
